As you know we had our AGM on Tuesday, May 3rd in Iontas where we had our committee elections and a constitutional amendment.
First we will go through the constitutional amendment in which we added the role of Chess Coordinator which passed unanimously!

|5th May||TRAD AGM + ZODOMO CONCERT||Trad Music Society|
Today, at 6.30pm-7.30pm, we are having our final AGM in Riverstown Hall to elect new members of the committee for September 2022. All positions are available, so don't be afraid to go for a position if you feel like it! There will be complimentary tea, coffee and pastries available too. Following the AGM, a few members of the committee will be attending the "Zodomo and Thomas McCarthy" concert, held in the Aula Maxima at 8pm today, organised by Maynooth University. Once again, thank you to everyone who took part in the trad festivities! From liking our Instagram posts, to attending our recent concert with Damien Mullane and Sean O'Meara, to taking part in the weekly sessions in Bradys, the trad soc is built on the collaborative efforts of everyone, so your contribution is not unnoticed!!

On Thursday the 5th of May we will be having our AGM. During this meeting we will be electing our new committee, giving out the end of year awards and watching the end of year video. It will be lots of fun and not to be missed! It will start at 6pm in JH6. See you there!!!

Hey Everybo-tea!! Join us on Tuesday the 3rd of May from 6-8 for our Tea Soc AGM!! This is your chance to run to be a part of this amazing commit-tea next year!! We will have 8 positions up for grabs and you can message our commit-tea in advance if you would like to run, or you can nominate yourself on the night!!
The available positions are:
President - Oversees the day to day running of the society
Vice-President - Assists the president and steps in should they be unavailable
Secretary - Responsible for all correspondence to/from the society (E-Mails) and takes minutes at meetings
Treasurer - The Moneyman/Moneywoman, responsible for all the society's finances, income and expenditure , receipts and the budget
PRO (Public Relations Officer) - Responsible for making all the posters for the society's events and helping the webmaster with the social media pages
Events Offcier - Ensures activities are planned for each week, fills out any relevant forms and updates any event pages, books rooms, plans collabs with other societies and occasionally plans larger events
Equipments Officer - Responsible for all of the society's equipment, bringing anything from the locker to events and buying the milk and biscuits for the meetups
Webmaster - Responsible for the society's social media accounts, and assists the PRO when needed

We’ll be having an AGM (annual general meeting) to elect some new committee members next Thursday 28th of April at 7pm in CB1? We will be voting on a new constitution as well!

Throughout the month of April we have been doing a steps challenge to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society. Our initial goal was to hit 1.5 Million steps. As we passed over a million steps early on we have decided to aim for 3 Millions steps. All the money raised is going to the Irish cancer society.

Maynooth University Musical Society present 'Jesus Christ Superstar' and we would love for you to attend!
'Jesus Christ Superstar' will run in the Main Sports Hall, Phoenix Building on North Campus from April 26th to 29th starting at 8pm each night. This is our first full scale musical since 2019 and we are so excited to be able to perform at the university again. We are absolutely thrilled to have won Best Society and Best Video at the Clubs and Socs Awards last month!! We went on to represent the college in these two categories at the National Societies Awards last week and won Best Promotional Video!! We want to say a huge thank you to all our members for all their help, participation and enthusiasm this year, we cannot wait to watch MUMS grow even more over the next few years.

A belated congratulations to the winner of the International Negotiation Competition 2022, Keerti Singh and Gaurika Jain. Also congratulations to Keerti Singh for winning an award for best speaker. Over the course of the competition, we witnessed displays of well-prepared negotiations and negotiation strategies.

We are pleased to announce that this is the second event with PeerGrid, the new careers and networking platform! The event taking place this Thursday, the 7th of April at 6:30pm is entitled How to get into your dream law firm!. This Thursday's event will be focused on training contract applications, featuring speakers from Freshfields and Linklaters! Hear from trainees at some of the top law firms about their advice for training contract applications and their experiences as trainees!

|4th Apr||Behind the Scenes Week||Musical Society|
There is so much more to musical theatre than just performing...
This week we hope to give you an insight into some of the behind the scenes roles that play a vital part in bringing any production to the stage!
First up on Monday evening on our Instagram stories we have the wonderful Anna telling you everything you need to know about being a musical director. Anna has been the MD for four productions since joining MUMS, including Everybody's Talking About Jamie, Heather's, Burlesque and The Prom. Anna will be able to answer all your questions on being an MD too!
On Tuesday morning on our Instagram stories we will have the fabulous Emma telling us the ins and outs of stage management, a vital role now that we are performing our productions again. Not only is Emma a talented stage manager but she has also won best director and choreographer at the Musical Theatre Intervarsities alongside our Productions chairperson Gavin. Emma will also be available to answer all your questions on stage management.
To round up our BTS week we have a 'How to Direct and Choreograph' workshop hosted by the ever talented Gavin, our two time award winning Inters director and winning Inters choreographer. This will take place in First Divinity Wednesday evening, the 6th of April, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and promises to be a super insightful and fun workshop!
We hope you all make the most of our BTS week and hopefully it will pique your interest in all the other fabulous jobs in musical theatre off stage.<3

We wanted to say a huge Dankeschön to all of our lovely members for all your support throughout the year! On Wednesday night at the Clubs and Societies Awards we came Second place in Most Improved Society and Best Society for Charity and Civic. We could not have done this without all of your continued support and help throughout the year!
Our amazing Health and Safety Officer Caoimhe also won Best Society First Year, and we are so proud of her!
To celebrate we are having a celebration event on Thursday night! We will have a Pizza Party in Classhall C in Arts at the usual time of 7pm! Then we will head on to the SU for some celebratory drinks! We hope to see everyone there so we can celebrate together!

|21st Mar||Wohlfharts Quiz-Abend||Deutsch|
Join us for our Wohlfharts Quiz-abend on March 23rd at 7pm in the SU Venue. This is going to be a big quiz with other clubs and societies also taking part! You can take part in teams of 4 or 5 and the main prize is a €15 JustEat voucher for each member of the winning team!
Teams can sign up HERE!!!!! (Only one person per team needs to sign up.) – we are encouraging teams to sign up before the quiz, as entry cannot be guaranteed otherwise!
The quiz is open to everyone in Maynooth, whether they are a society member or not! There are a good mix of questions, with rounds including a Film round, a Eurovision Round and a Picture Round, (and more!) so students won't have to worry about questions only being themed to the society/German!
The event is free entry, but we will have a raffle on the night with all proceeds going to the MSU Charity of the Year, Bone Marrow for Leukaemia Trust. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase on the night. Raffle prizes include lots of MU goodies (such a notebooks, totebags and a hoodie), sweets, vouchers, a bottle of Champagne, a €15 JustEat voucher and more! Please note that we are only taking cash on the night to buy the tickets.
This event promises to be really fun, and is helping to raise money for a really good cause, so we really hope to see as many people there as possible!

Hey everyone this Thursday we will be hosting a picture story competition
At the meeting you will be given a prompt such as a sentence or even a picture and you and your team will have to tell a story using your creativity and imagination through 3 different pictures. We think this will be a great way for people to get to know each other better in the society and also a good teambuilding exercise

|18th Mar||Galway Trip||Geography Society|
There are still a limited number of spaces available for our trip to Galway next month. If you're interested please send us an email or message us on one of our social media pages @mugeogsoc on both twitter and Instagram.
For those who are not aware, the trip will take place from the 19th-21st of April. We are travelling by private bus to Galway where we will stay in a hostel and have numerous activities planned. There is a fee of 50euro to attend the trip but we promise it is worth the money.
We would love to see as many of you there as possible!

This weekend we had a team go down to Cork to play in an Open IV tournament against other colleges. Unfortunately the tournament was cancelled last minute but we were still able to play some games against the other colleges that had already travelled down. Despite the disappointment of the cancelled event we had a great weekend. We are looking forward to the rescheduled event.

MU Boxing had great succuess at the Intervarsities with Bella, Sinead and Billy all taking home gold medals and Mai and Bence fighting their way to silver. A huge congratulations to all that took part.

We will be playing lots of trivia games a mix of academia and fun general knowledge.

Following the sad news of the passing of our teammate and Treasurer, Josh Brunkard, we will be cancelling badminton sessions this week. Varsity Trials will be cancelled, and the team will be selected based on previous sessions.
An Tobar in Student Services remains open with books of condolence for Josh. Students are most welcome to spend time in An Tobar and there is tea/coffee in the little kitchen dock, and one can help themselves.
Plans for a moment of remembrance for Josh will be announced later. An online book of condolence for Josh is available on the Student Services website.
In place of our Tuesday Badminton slot, MU Badminton will be meeting at Phoenix at 8pm for a night to remember Josh.

Less than two weeks to go until we perform The Prom at this year Musical Theatre Intervarsities in Thurles on March 19th.

On Wednesday 9th March we are holding a 12 hour event marathon for our own Mental Health Day! All the activities provide a chance to meet other people and take some time to destress during the busy college day. There’s an event and time to suit everyone so be sure to pop along! Student Sports Ireland were thinking of doing a singles/ mixed doubles competition. The event would be a day long, starting from 10am to 6pm. It would take place in Baldoyle Dublin and we would facilitate a bus for you. We also can give you a note that will excuse you from classes with mandatory attendance. The event may not go ahead. They only want numbers for now to see if people are interested.
Please note that due to how close intervarsities is, the committee would not be able to pair people into mixed doubles. You will have to find your own partner. the form closes at 10am Monday. Only people who complete this form will be updated on the competition going forward.
