Open Virtual Activity Link »Journalism Training with Conall Ó Fátharta. Conall is an award-winning journalist, formerly with the Irish Examiner. He is best known for his investigative reporting into forced and illegal adoption, mother and baby homes, and the treatment of women in such institutions at the hands of the Church and the State. His research as an academic examines the role and significance of journalism in investigating historical human rights abuses but also shaping the narratives by which the public engage with such issues. He is currently undertaking a PhD in Media Studies as an Irish Research Council Postgraduate Scholar in Maynooth University.

Learning writing for news, online and features and in improving your skills as a professional writer
Understanding how news is written for different audiences and how different media take different approaches to the news
Evaluating sources of information and in making decisions, solving problems, and displaying an independent, critical, and creative approach to journalism
