Bake Sale for the Alzheimer’s Society

Posted 16th Nov 2022
Author Clare Donnelly (Events Officer)

On Wednesday, 16th of November, the Law. Society held a bake sale in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland. This is the second charity that we have fundraiser for as part of our Fifteen Year Celebrations. The charity was chosen as it is one many of us hold close to our hearts. They provide dementia specific supports across the country and advocate for the rights of those living with dementia, their families and their carers.

In 2021 the charity received €3.4 million in fundraising monies and 90.6% of all of the charity’s income is invested into direct care provisions, such as respite care, day care and advisory services. Remaining funds are invested into governance and research.

We are so proud to have fundraiser for such an amazing charity and we are delighted with the generosity of Maynooth staff and students for helping us raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

SUBMISSIONS OPEN - 10th Golden Thread

Posted 25th Feb 2020
Author Eoin Robinson

The Maynooth University Law Society are now accepting submissions for the 10th edition of the Golden Thread!

To mark the 10th Anniversary of the Golden Thread, this years theme is 'A Decade in Law'

What is the Golden Thread?

  • The Golden Thread is the first student-run legal publication of the MU Law Department. The I'm of the journal is to provide a forum for students to publish their views and opinions on legal topics.

Why should I write a submission?

  • Having an article published in a legal publication can be excellent for exposure and may open a platform for other authors to connect and collaborate with you. It can also be an excellent and unique addition to CV. This year we will be publishing a hard-copy of the publication and it will be displayed in the MU Law Department. Each accepted author will be awarded a €50 OneForAll Voucher.

What requirements should my submission meet?

  • It is advised that submissions be short in length (between 1000-1500 words), however, longer submissions may be considered. MU students from all years are invited to make submissions. Please note that all submissions should be complete with footnotes, should be fully cited using the OSCOLA reference style and should be submitted no later than March 31st 2020.

Any hints or tips?

  • In order to ensure your submission stand out, we advise that you write on a contemporary legal topic. Submissions that have been submitted as a part of continuous assessment will be less likely to be published.

If you are interested in making a submission, or if you would like more information, do not hesitate to send an email to law@mulife.ie addressed to Irina Ciocan with the subject title 'Golden Thread Submission.'

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to send an email to law@mulife.ie.
