Wanna be part of the 2024/25 committee? We’re hosting our yearly AGM next week! This is your opportunity to put yourself forward for elections for a brand new committee. We encourage you to get involved in our society because it’s rewarding and allows you to meet new people! 

We’ll see you on Wednesday the 1st of May in Rye Events Space from 3-5pm! Voting will take place via Microsoft Forms. If you’re putting yourself forward, we highly suggest you prepare a small manifesto!  

 We are celebrating the coming of Spring with our much anticipated  Vynochky Workshop is back! Our PRO Aoife will teach you how to make the iconic flower crown worn in our traditional attire! 

No prior experience is required at all, and all materials will be provided. However due to lack of materials, we will ask to make sure you book your space on MU Life! This is a great opportunity to come and learn something new and cultural!

We’re hosting our fundraising quiz for Ukrainian Action next Wednesday on the 20th of March!? 

Join us for an evening of quizzes and amazing prizes to be won for such a great cause. There will be a €3 fee which can be paid via MU Life, physically and via revolut, all being donated towards Ukrainian Action Ireland!

We welcome you to a Refugee Experience Sharing Event! This is a chance for you to get an insight from Ukrainian refugees who have moved and settled in Ireland as an aftermath of the invasion. There will be a discussion and a chance to learn and ask any questions. Join us all for this special event on Monday the 4th March in JHT2 from 1-2pm.

This event will be tournament style focused with 4 winners receiving our iconic Ukrainian vynochky handmade by our PRO Aoife??

There will also be presentations given by our VP Caitlin on Chess in Ukraine as well as members of the Chess Club about fundamentals of the game.

Whether you’re a beginner or pro, anyone is welcome to participate! 

We have another collab happening with International Law, and we couldn’t be more excited!!??????.

This event is a talk and discussion on the war in Ukraine, specifically surrounding the many war crimes that have been committed and the impact of war. There will be guest speakers and a discussion.

With Hallowe’en coming up, we decided to put our Ukrainian spin onto a Halloween Coffee Morning!???? 

During this spooky edition of our regular Coffee Morning, the basis will be on Ukrainian halloween customs and superstitions. Our committee members Aoife and Anya will also touch on the history of witchcraft in Ukraine during Pagan times! Historical books annd sources and more information will be provided. 

We also encourage our members to tell their own ghost stories! Tell us all about your halloween and spooky experiences! This is a perfect opportunity to meet new people and make new friends!

We are celebrating the legacy of the iconic Ukrainian artist Maria Prymachenko with an event dedicated to her unique art. During this special event, members can replicate Prymachenko’s art, or create their own piece inspired by her works. 

Whether you are skilled at art or have never painted before, all levels are welcome. We encourage creativity and want to allow Prymachenko’s work to inspire our members! 

This is our first coffee meeting of the semester! This is an opportunity to get to know us as a committee, as well as meet new people in the society. Maybe you might learn some Ukrainian words, or fun facts and stories about Ukraine!??? 

It’s important to remember that you don’t  have to be Ukrainian to attend our coffee meetings! We welcome absolutely everyone and want to share our diverse Ukrainian culture and language.

We are so excited to announce that our very first event of the semester is in collaboration with Mu Deutsch! This is to celebrate European Languages Day. Everyone is welcome whether you are fluent in 5 languages or even none! Maybe you’ll learn some new phrases..? ?

The poll will be on Microsoft and all of the available positions can be seen in the previous Instagram post. If you are nominating yourself, we strongly advise you to prepare a short manifesto.

We will be hosting a Vynochky (Flower Head Wreath) workshop with Aoife, where you can learn how to make traditional Ukrainian wreaths! No prior experience is required, and all materials will be provided. Please make sure to book your spot on MU Life, as the amount of materials is limited. This is a great opportunity to learn something new and have fun!

Cultural Quiz Collaboration. Each Society is going to create a round of questions related to their cultures and we will split members into mixed teams from each society, with the winners receiving a small prize. We were hoping to make this a charity event by asking participants for a 2 euro entry fee which will be donated to the SU Charity of the Year, which is Threshold.

We will have a vibrant celebration of Ukrainian Easter, where we will be honouring the centuries-old tradition of Pascha and the art of egg painting. This festive event promises to be a unique experience that will immerse attendes in the rich cultural heritage of Ukraine. During the event, we will have a chance to learn more about Pascha, a joyous holiday that symbolises the triumph of life over death. We will be sharing fascinating history behind the celebration, as well as the customs and rituals that have been passed down through generations. As part of celebration, we will also be showcasing the beautiful and intricate art of egg painting. Known as Pysanky, this is traditional art form.

First in the Soviet occupation and the persecution of the Polish family, then, by the Nazi occupation of Ukraine, and the decimation of the Jewish family. Sacrificing their lives the Ukrainian family manage to save their neighbours' children and their own daughter."

This exciting event is a collaboration between Ukrainian, Computer Science, Math, and Mature Societies. The event will feature a variety of board games and computer games (personal devices are required!), so whether you're a seasoned gamer or new to the scene, there will be something for you to enjoy. 

In addition to the gaming, we'll have icebreaker activities to help everyone get to know each other and make new friends. And of course, no gaming event would be complete without refreshments! We'll have pizza on hand to keep everyone fueled up for the fun ;)

To memorialise one year of the ongoing war.

We invite you to join us for an insightful event with the Ukrainian Society as we bring together Ukrainian refugees to share their stories and experiences of war. This event aims to provide a platform for members of our community to share their experiences and shed light on the struggles faced during the toughest time of their lives.

You will have an opportunity to hear their personal stories and ask questions in a safe environment.

1. 12 pm: 15-20 minute introductory talk into Ukrainian history up to the 21^st century;
2. 12:20 pm: 15-20 minute talk by Dr. John Paul Newman (Department of History) about Ukraine in the 21^st century;
