Our committee members Aoife and Anya will also touch on the history of witchcraft in Ukraine during Pagan times! Historical books annd sources and more information will be provided.

This festive event promises to be a unique experience that will immerse attendes in the rich cultural heritage of Ukraine. During the event, we will have a chance to learn more about Pascha, a joyous holiday that symbolises the triumph of life over death. We will be sharing fascinating history behind the celebration, as well as the customs and rituals that have been passed down through generations. As part of celebration, we will also be showcasing the beautiful and intricate art of egg painting. Known as Pysanky, this is traditional art form.

First in the Soviet occupation and the persecution of the Polish family, then, by the Nazi occupation of Ukraine, and the decimation of the Jewish family. Sacrificing their lives the Ukrainian family manage to save their neighbours' children and their own daughter."

We invite you to join us for an insightful event with the Ukrainian Society as we bring together Ukrainian refugees to share their stories and experiences of war. This event aims to provide a platform for members of our community to share their experiences and shed light on the struggles faced during the toughest time of their lives.

You will have an opportunity to hear their personal stories and ask questions in a safe environment.

  1. 12 pm: 15-20 minute introductory talk into Ukrainian history up to the 21st century;
  2. 12:20 pm: 15-20 minute talk by Dr. John Paul Newman (Department of History) about Ukraine in the 21st century;

  4. 12:50 pm: Sinking of Moskva and why it mattered so much;
