TRAD AGM + ZODOMO CONCERT

Posted 5th May 2022
Author Oisin Sloan Starr (President)

Hi all!

I hope you all had a fantastic year at Maynooth, and thank you all for being so involved in the trad society this year! We went from asking the Marys to "reactivate" the society to winning "Most Improved Society" this year and we couldn't have done it without everyones support! It truly means a lot to us.

Today, at 6.30pm-7.30pm, we are having our final AGM in Riverstown Hall to elect new members of the committee for September 2022. All positions are available, so don't be afraid to go for a position if you feel like it! There will be complimentary tea, coffee and pastries available too. Following the AGM, a few members of the committee will be attending the "Zodomo and Thomas McCarthy" concert, held in the Aula Maxima at 8pm today, organised by Maynooth University. Tickets are still available on Eventbrite and its a trad concert not to be missed! https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/arts-and-minds-festival-tickets-320672659557

Once again, thank you to everyone who took part in the trad festivities! From liking our Instagram posts, to attending our recent concert with Damien Mullane and Sean O'Meara, to taking part in the weekly sessions in Bradys, the trad soc is built on the collaborative efforts of everyone, so your contribution is not unnoticed!!

As always, posts and updates will be directed on our Instagram page (give us a follow if you haven't already https://www.instagram.com/mutradsoc) of anything we get up to, and we aim to keep events going up until the end of May.

Looking forward to seeing where trad goes next <3

Trad Soc AGM + Session Tuesday

Posted 17th Oct 2021
Author Oisin Sloan Starr (President)

Hey everyone, hope you're all settling into Maynooth life. We're going to be hosting our first Trad Soc meeting on the 19th of October (this Tuesday) in Riverstown Hall from 9pm-10pm. We'll be electing a First Year Rep and going over a few other things like introducing the committee, and it's advised that as many people attend (there'll be free pizza). The reason for the lateness in the meeting is that the Trad Ensemble only finishes practicing then, and that we have received permission from Brady's staff to host the weekly session a week earlier, starting this Tuesday the 19th of October instead of the 26th! If you are able to attend, we highly recommend going to the session as it's a great way to meet other musicians (feel free to bring your instrument to the AGM and head up to the session after). The sessions will always commence at the same time each week at around 9.30pm starting time.

Also, please follow the Trad Society on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/mutradsoc/) as we are more active on there and if you have any questions please feel free to DM us.

See you Tuesday!

Oisin

Happy returns!

Hey everyone! Welcome to all new and returning members :-) I am just in the midst of setting everything up but am hoping to have a meeting to decide new committee members, before sessions start up again (from October 22nd on) as that is our main activity. As trad music is best enjoyed when in each others company, it'd be best to wait until we are able to play in the same room together before we organise any sessions. If you know anyone that'd be interested in joining, please feel free to let them know about the trad soc! Make sure that your medical certs are up to date, and that you have paid the 2 euro, as I cannot accept you into the society until you do so. I'm currently getting around to gaining ownership of the social media channels, but I'm aiming for everything to be up and running around the middle of October, just in time for us to return to Bradys.

Thanks all, and if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me :D
