Week 3 - Election Time

Posted 5th Oct 2025
Author Kayla (Vice President/Secretary)

Hey Gamers,
It's week THREE, and it's Election Time.

Events:
Weekly Games:
It's gone somewhere. Cancelled this week for our E.G.M

E.G.M:
Join us in JHL1 this Tuesday, 6:30 - 10pm

What's on the agenda?
Constitutional Referendum
Every two years we are required to hold a vote on our constitution. This time we are proposing some changes to make the running of the society smoother.

Changes to the contents of article 4.5
 -
1. Esports Coordinator to be renamed Esports Management Coordinator
2. The introduction of the Esports Promotion Coordinator.
3. Update the numbering of the roles to be more consistent with the constitutional template.

These changes will be voted on together. The changes to the Esports coordinator role is being proposed to deal with how large the esports workload has become over the past couple of years. On acceptance of the article 4.5 , the positions available for election will include the Esports Promotion Coordinator.

Introduction of article 4.10
1. The position of Ordinary Committee Member shall be elected on an as-needed basis.

Then it's election time:
Note: In order to be able to vote or run for positions you must be a paid member of the society on MUlife.

Up for election is the:
War games Coordinator,
Esports Promotion Coordinator (provided the amendment to the constitution is passed)
and last but absolutely not least, the First Year Representative

See end of this announcement for the duties and responsibilities of each role.
Nominations will be held on the night and the vote will be held on MUlife.

There will be having an update regarding Dominicon 29: Medieval Edition. Food and drinks will be provided (pizza).

DM Auction:
The DM Auction will be ran on the 14th of October, that's the day where we auction of the DMs like cattle. Each person running a table top game is to go onto the stage of JHL1 (and give me their Discord details on the way) and tell everyone there their game pitch (1-2 lines), what system it is, when they'll run, how many players they need and if its beginner friendly/if they'll help beginners.

After all DMs have gone, people will be able to put their hands up to show interest and hopefully be picked by said DM to play. After that they will be allocated rooms on the 21st of October!
On October 14th at 6:30pm in JHL1. b If you are interested in being a DM this year, please fill out the form below. As mentioned above, this week our TTRPG co-ordinator will be running an intro to roleplaying event in JHL4 at 6:30pm

If your interested in running a game this year, please fill out the interest form below.

AGM Information

Posted 9th Apr 2025
Author Finbarr, VP

Good Morning Gamers!

As you all know, next Tuesday will be our Annual General Meeting! This year, we will be doing the elections a little bit differently. We will be using MuLife's election portal to run out elections. This means that, instead of declaring at the AGM that you will be running for a position, you will have to use the MuLife nominations system to put yourself up for the role that you want. For most roles, this will be as simple as filling out the form on MuLife, hitting submit, and sending the link for someone to second your nomination to a friend who is also an active member of Games Society.

For President and the PRO positions, a short portfolio will also be required. For the PRO's, this will need to contain examples of your work in the designated area, social media for PRO Media, and in art and design for PRO Design. For the President, this will need to be an accompaniment to a personal statement on your work with the society and how you would be a good fit for President. We also ask that portfolios be kept to a maximum of 5 slides.

If you think you would be a good fit for the team, please don't hesitate to use the link below to nominate yourself, and make sure to send the seconding link to someone on the society as soon as you can.

https://mulife.ie/memberships/nominate

Nominations close next Monday, so make sure you have your nominations in and seconded before then!

Hope to see you at the AGM next Tuesday in Iontas at 6.30!
