Join us Wednesday the 24th April for a Language Café alongside the ARQUS Alliance. ARQUS usually runs online "Language Cafés" however we thought it would be fun to co combine this with an event and run an in-person event!

Hence the name Language Café - we will be providing tea, coffee and snacks!

We will be going to Howth for the Howth Head Hike.

The trip will start in Maynooth where we will take the train to Howth together then begin the hike! 

This hike is relatively easy with only a steep incline up to the Howth Hike car park from the main town.

After the hike, students will have free time to explore the seaside town and even get some fish!

Essential items to bring will be good walking shoes, water, snacks, rain jacket (weather permitting), leap card/money for train ticket etc. 

Our first movie night for our Irish Month will be the best of Derry Girls starting at 6:10pm until 8pm

ESN are delighted to be hosting a tour of the Oireachtas. The Oireachtas is the government building where the Irish Government meets. During this tour, students will get the opportunity to see the Leader's Questions session, where politicians get to put questions to the government which will be very unique. Following this, students will have the opportunity to have lunch in Merrion Square Park. Afterwards, they will be given a private tour of the buildings by Senator Fintan Warfield.

Students are welcome to bring their own packed lunch and must bring their Leap card or money for taking the train to/from Dublin.

We will be attending Wild Lights at Dublin Zoo. Wild Lights is an annual lighting show that takes place after the zoo closes each year and is a chance for people to experience the zoo when the animals go to sleep and engage in a light show theme.

Cuallacht na Gaeilge are hosting a Gaeilge24 session and would love to extend the invitation to Erasmus and International students who want to experience the Irish language and spread a bit of their own culture!

This event will be a coffee morning of sorts so students are encouraged to bring breakfast items from their country!

The event will take place 19th October to be at the location at 7:30p.m. Tickets are 22€ for ESNcard holders!

The Nightmare Realm takes place in a 130-year old Victorian building on St. Mary's Lane which contains 6,000 sqm of horror! There are actors and prosthetics and will leave you trembling!

There are 5 themed mazes to explore together and a dance stage at "Halloween Town"

- SECRETARY:
in charge of admin like weekly emails, and society google drive organisation; arranges weekly meetings and takes minutes; supports all members of the committee; implements and promotes international ESN-wide projects at our local ESN section.

- PROs/BDOs:
public relations and communication management. This could mean: the creation of PR material, creating, planning and posting social media content and management of the information flow within the section. Let us know below if you have experience but if you don’t have experience don’t worry! You will be fully trained by the ESN Ireland support and outgoing PROs! Generally, there is a team of 2 or more PROs!

- EVENTS/TRIPS OFFICERS:
For events, help plan, organise and promote weekly events, sets up the room, welcomes guests, hypes up the event. For trips help organise the logistics of both day and weekend trips by booking accommodation, transport, tour guides and preparing the itinerary for trips. Preferably needs to be available to go on some weekend trips over the year (free of charge).  Generally, there is a team of 3 or more events/trips officers!

- ORDINARY BOARD MEMBER
As an Ordinary Board Member you will support the board in any activities or areas needed.

This event is a night to experience a variety of different forms of culture through art, music, history etc. This night is a publicly funded event supported by the Government of Ireland in which members of the public can enter into any event taking place during the night for FREE. For this event, ESN Maynooth's event officers carefully chose which events would be the most worthwhile events for Erasmus students to attend, in order for them to gain a better insight into our culturally rich country. The night will begin at Maynooth train station, starting in the National Library of Ireland, and finishing the night with EPIC the Irish Emigration Museum. What a fun way to explore the capital and history!!

This coming Monday join us and the MU Trad Soc at the SU Venue from 19:00-23:00 for ‘craic’, the Irish word for fun and ‘ceoil’, meaning music. This will be the perfect opportunity for anyone interested to get a taste of some traditional Irish music (and maybe even a bit of a Céilí)

Who's excited for our international dinner?

Our Dinner in the Dark experience has been rescheduled to this Monday! This is to raise awareness and give you a small idea of what it means to live with blindness or visual impairment restrictions. We will be ordering in food from the SU and also from various takeaways around Maynooth. You’re also welcome to bring a dish of
your own from your country if you prefer but due to health and safety restrictions on hot food it has to be a cold dish (so maybe a dessert

We will be joined by the lovely Mental Health Soc, and discussing the kinds of mental health issues that can come up for international students and what our societies and the university can do to tackle this. I ESN Maynooth is going bowling on Thursday 22nd November :) Since we know many people live outside Maynooth will meet at Base Entertainment Centre in Celbridge at 18:30/18:45 and will finish around 21:00. It costs €15 per person, we will be collecting money at a table in the Arts Building (time and date will be posted below this description later), or you can also sign up at any of our other events. This has limited places so will be on a first come first served basis.

Transport For those coming from Maynooth we will get the 67 bus at 17:50 from the Straffan Road bus stop (opposite the Glenroyal Hotel). If anyone has any questions about how to get to the place from where they live please message us and we will happily help you out (we know Irish public transport can be confusing)

I ESN Maynooth are hosting their first table quiz of the year on Thursday the 15th November in the Venue. This is a great way to socialize and meet international and local students and also pick up some handy trivia knowledge along the way ;)Teams will consist of 3-4 people, you can come as a team or we can put you into teams when you arrive. Its nearly Halloween! and I*ESN Maynooth have organised a spooky trip for you guys We will be visiting Farmaphobia Ireland’s only dedicated Scream Park with amazing and diverse Haunt Experiences which will terrify and push your nerves to the limit 

We will meet at the bus point at Phoenix where a bus will take us to Farmaphobia (it leaves at 17:30 so don't be late!). There we will visit 3 different (and terrifying) haunts and then its back on the bus which will drop us off in Maynooth for 22:00/22:30. So there will be plenty of time to still go out for those who want 

It will cost €30 in total. There is limited spacing unfortunately so it will be on a first come first served basis. The latest we can accept money from you is Monday the 22nd of October. You can pay the total up front or pay a deposit of €15 now and the rest on the night. You can pay a member of the committee at any of the other I*ESN events or message us on whatsapp/facebook and we can arrange to meet up with you ???? We will also be accepting money at table 2 in the arts block on Wednesday the 17th of October. 

I ESN Maynooth wants to give current international students a chance to experience an Irish Halloween celebration, it'll take place on Thursday the 25th October in the upstairs area of the Phoenix building. There will be traditional Halloween games & food, music, and a pumpkin carving competition! Dress up is strongly encouraged (us Irish love it) and there will also be a prize for best costume ;) 
It will cost €1 with an ESN card or €3 without, you pay on arrival so no need to give us money in advance.

As part of Social Inclusion Days, I*ESN will be visiting the KWWSPCA Dog Shelter on Friday the 1st of December, to help walk and play with the dogs and puppies who live at the shelter, as well as assisting with cleaning and general maintenance, and to raise awareness about the work which the KWWSPCA do.

As part of the Social Inclusion Days, which aim to promote awareness about disabilities and volunteering, I*ESN Maynooth, in collaboration with the Access Society, is organising a Dinner in the Dark. Participants will get to enjoy a meal together, with one difference...they will be blindfolded! The aim of the event is to raise awareness about visual impairment, and to have fun while eating a delicious dinner provided by the SU bar. The event will take place on the 4th of December 2017 and will cost €5 per person (to be paid in advance).

IESN (International Erasmus Student Network) will be collecting donations of clothes, appliances, jewellery, books, handbags, basically any unwanted items for our thrift shop event in January. The only thing we won't be accepting is food. W will be collecting donations next week in the SU Lobby at the following times:

We will be visiting Belfast city,  Giants Causeway,  Carrick a rede rope bridge, ballintoy and the dark hedges where game of thrones was filmed and Dunluce castle. A trip not to be missed!
