This is the first night of auditions for the one acts festival that will be held in the smock alley in Dublin. It is a fantastic opportunity for members to enhance their acting ability, and be center stage with their friends.

This is the second day of debs auditions that is held in JH tutorial room 2. This is a festival where every first year is guaranteed a role.

This is the first day where in which first years can audition for a role in the series of plays, where every first year is guaranteed a role.

This is an EGM designed to elect a first year rep, who will liaise with the committee on matters regarding first year members.  

Its an introduction workshop so everyone can meet the committee, grasp how the whole drama society works, make a few friends, and overall just forget about the hustle and bustle of college life and just have the craic. 

Join us this Thursday for our final event of the year. Our semester 2 lip sync battle for Threshold is going to a blast and we hope to see you there. Sign ups are still open we encourage you to sign up and take part.

Family although a source of tension, is a unit that works together through life's toughest obstacle, grief. The Irish have a beautiful way of handling grief, through laughter. In this play we follow such a family throughout a funeral service, from readings and eulogies to communion and goodbyes. Throughout the service we see how each family members handles grief and the celebration of the life that they lost. The family, although quite distinct from one another each present a different attribute that works together to create a functional unit, no one is perfect but everyone is trying their best.

Doors open at 7:30 and the play will start at 8pm.

We are very excited to be going to Galway this December 9th and 10th to go visit the Christmas Markets!

This is going to be a very fun trip. 

We will be leaving Maynooth around 3pm on Friday the 9th of December. Arriving in Galway and staying in Kinlay Hostel (Eyres Square). We will spend Friday night and Saturday in Galway going around exploring the markets and returning to Heuston Station Dublin for around 9:30pm on Saturday the 10th of December.

The trip will cost €50 per member (excluding train).

We will be learning how to create scenes with stage combat (safely). This workshop will be led by professional stage combat instructor Barry Morgan from the TasteMaker Theatre in Dublin. It will be two-hour special starting at 6pm and finishing at 8pm.

Come and audition for our rerun of Coffee Cures F**k All! This time, we will be bringing this show abroad, to an international youth theatre festival in Bremen, Germany. You will need to be available to fly to Bremen with us between the 4th-10th of January (exam accommodations TBC).

Farmaphobia is back! Last year we went on a spooooky trip to Causey Farm, and due to popular demand, we've decided to give you all the chance to go this year as well! 

Farmaphobia is Ireland's most spooky and most unique Halloween attraction, with some indoor and outdoor exhibits. 

Tickets cost €33 and include entry to Farmaphobia, as well as a small contribution to transport costs. 

We will meet outside the MSU Bar & Venue at 6:45pm, where a coach will pick us up and bring us to Farmaphobia. The same coach will drop us back in Maynooth at around 11pm again.

Hey everyone!

Welcome back to campus! We can't wait to see you all again, and we would love to catch up with you over a drink of your choice at the SU bar :)

We will meet at 7pm at Classhall E and walk over to the SU together.

In our lip sync competition, we have 9 acts preforming a song, hosted by the wonderful Viola Gayvis, who will also perform some lip syncs. Tickets at 5 euro going to MSU chairty of the month Bone Marrow for Leukaemia Trust. We shall also have a raffle. Acts will be judged by a panel of judges. 

This is the second full slot play if the year. The event will run the same as the show the week prior, in the aula with a get in on the monday (11th of April).

Every year MU Drama society puts on full slot plays. This is the first play, running for two nights in the Aula Maxima, the next following a week later. Lighting and sound is being sourced externally. the play will begin at 7:30,  and will run for an hour.

Now I know what you are thinking-"7 pm-9 pm, what an awfully long time to audition for" Fear not, the auditions work on a drop-in basis so come join us whenever you are free. You do not need to prepare anything, just come as you are! Debs is a festival for First-Year Drama members, as well as members that might have joined us for the first time this year!

Basically, if you want to act and never have before this is your chance! If you are interested at all in acting you should come around and give it a shot since this festival is for you in mind as you are guaranteed a role to give you a chance to perform and have fun! This audition process and the show itself will be happening online this year due to the Corona Virus Epidemic but that will not stop us from performing in front of an audience as we have plans to stream it online if possible.

Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead by Bert V. Royal is a play about a teenage boy, CB, who begins to question the existence of an afterlife after his dog dies. Unable to find solace from his friends after his dog's death, CB turns to an artistic classmate, but their rekindled friendship pushes the bounds of what CB's friends are willing to accept, forcing CB to consider who he wants to be. Dog Sees God is a touching and thought-provoking play about being different in a school filled with people who all pretend to be the same.

SO our next workshop on Mon 4th Feb, will be hosted by Olivia Songer. We will be focusing on storytelling exercises that will be a mix of both director and actor focused. We may even do some movement exercises too! It really is one not to be missed!!! :)

MU Drama Presents: Removing The Physical Mask workshop

This weeks workshop is being hosted by the lovely Michaela Wohlgemuth! Michaela is coming to us from the Lir Academy and we are absolutely delighted to have her! Don't be shy and ask loads of questions !! Michaela is also a qualified teacher of the Alexander effect, what we are covering this week :D

It is an introduction to the Alexander Technique (which sounds hella fancy) What it's all about is learning how to use the body's natural functions like breathing to transform into your character!!

Bring yourself a yoga mat, a small blanket and dress comfortable and warm. See you there!

Our annual Debs Fest will be taking place on Monday 19th, Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st of November in the Aula Maxima in South Campus, Maynooth University. Doors are at @ 8pm. Each night should be 8pm - around 9:40pm. These are a series of short plays that range from drama to comedy and much more!!!

One of the key elements of theatre is working in an emsemble, with people you may know and people you may not know. It can be challenging for some of us to find the right beat with fellow actors if we can't move to the right beat. Luckily, we at MU Drama have a good remedy for this!

This role involves sending out the weekly email, keeping minutes of all  meetings, making the agenda for the weekly committee meetings, applying for rights for plays, dealing with all correspondence for the society (i.e, all the emails, proposals, any queries, etc)..If you would like to apply please come along and if anyone would like more info just send the page a message.

We will also have a quick workshop on ensemble work.

MU Drama presents Mort by Terry Pratchett

Plot Synopsis: Set in Terry Pratchett’s iconic Discworld, Mort is a largely comedic play that follows the story of a young man, Mort short for Mortimer, as he enters an apprenticeship with none other than Death. During the course of his apprenticeship, Death decides to take a holiday – leaving Mort to struggle with the duty of welcoming souls to the afterlife. When Mort spares the life of Keli, the young Princess of Sto Lat; his actions threaten the very fabric of the universe itself, which is but the least of his worries
once his new boss finds out.

Teamwork makes the dream work, 

Much like Team Rocket, MU drama wants us to build on our team skills and how to work as a group, hopefully,our teamwork will be much better than Team Rockets!

Drama presents the first ever One Act Festival! A two week long festival showcasing four great one act shows produced by Maynooths own!

Closer is a play that reflects the true nature of relationships in the current climate; unsteady, everchanging and turbulent. Four people fall in love, fall out of love, and experience some of the most intense feelings one can have.
Please note, this play includes scenes of partial nudity, vulgar language and sexual violence, and is not recommended for anyone under 18.

MU Drama presents our first festival of the year. The Debutantes Festival is for all the newcomers to the society letting them make their acting/directing debut with Drama. With a total of 14 short plays it's sure to be a fantastic week!

"12 Angry Men" by Reginald Rose and directed by Robert de Brún focuses on a jury's deliberations in a capital murder case. A 12-man jury is sent to begin deliberations in the first-degree murder trial of an 19-year-old man accused in the stabbing death of his father, where a guilty verdict means an automatic death sentence.

Our first full slot production of Reginald Rose's 12 Angry Jurors! The story of an undecided jury as they debate the innonce of a young man accused of murdering his father.

Doors are at 7pm with the show starting at half past, admission is €4

Three More Sleepless Nights by Caryl Churchill comes to Maynooth for three, sleepless, nights!! From 25th-27th Oct Doors open at 7, show starts at 7:30 sharp in AX1. Directed by James Browne, this short play explores the search for a stable relationship, and how our insecurites affect that search.

The Débutantes Festival is all about getting new members of all experience levels involved with Drama. It's a week long festival of short plays where the main goal is to have learn, make new friends and most importantly have fun! With about 60 roles to be cast there certainly is something for everyone. So come on down to JH3 and help us make your debut!

MU Drama presents auditions for their first full slot production of the year! 12 Angry Jurors, the tale of 12 Jurors arguing the case of a young man accused of murder. Auditions last from 7pm to 9pm every night and are open to students of all skill levels!
