The anthropology society would like to take a day trip to the National Museum of Art and Design History in Dublin 7. Members would use public transportation to meet at Hueston station before walking the short distance as a group to the museum. The Luas is available if there are any students with disability who cannot walk. After the museum, those inclined can go to dinner at a local establishment nearby. After the museum members will you public transit to return to their respective homes.

Timeline:

11AM: Meet at Hueston Station

11:15: Walk to Museum of Decorative Arts and History

11:30: Tour Museum

16:00: Walk to local restaurant for dinner

17:00: Disband

The info session will be presented by Ellen Fanning who is an alumni student that graduated doing a single major last year and current students who do a single/double major and minor pathways.

we will be hosting a collaboration with the feminist society! We will be having a chat and discussion about the prevalent social and political issues in relation to gender equality in Ireland, specifically the various issues that occurred this month. Anthropology can view various issues through a feminist lens which makes this event particularly interesting for our members!

The Anthropology Society is holding an event to discuss Erasmus and studying abroad ( outside of Europe) opportunities and experiences for anthropology students!

We have students to discuss their experiences with Erasmus and studying anthropology abroad and will answer any questions!

This week we will be having a general meeting to discuss the society's future and what we can do while social isolating. There have been a few ideas already and we would like to hear from you all about what you guys want. The meeting will be this Friday 3rd at 12pm (noon) on Zoom, so please download zoom and register with your college email! I will be accepting items for the agenda until 10am on Friday 3rd. Bring your pets and a cup of tea/coffee!

In collaboration with MSU for Social Justice Week, we will be screening the 2016 film 'Pride'! The film depicts the efforts of the very real group 'Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners' that helped a small welsh community during Thatcher's crackdown on the mining communities during the 80's. We will be showing the film in the anthro seminar room in Rowan House!

Calling all first years! We're running a first years only event to you guys introduced to the society and everyone in it! There will be free tea, coffee and cakes so please come along!

We will be having our monthly book club on Tuesday 12th of February in the Anthro Seminar Room from 12-2pm! Since its Valentines day the following Friday, there will be a theme of love in literature! 

We are holding an EGM on Monday 9th of February at 4pm! We will be putting forward and discussing ideas for the semester ahead, and we would love your ideas and feedback! Most importantly, we will be discussing our trip to the Isle of Man during March study week!

We are all going into Dublin town to do some karaoke in Whelans and very possibly some drinks! We will be meeting in temple bar before hand and walk over together!

It's the year of the rat! For Chinese New Year, we will be attending some events in the city centre run by Dublin City Council! Keep your eyes peeled for more info!

Ho ho ho! You are cordially invited to AnthroSoc's Big Christmas Party! We will be celebrating the holidays with games, music, and most important of all, food! We will have spot prizes for competitions such as Ugliest Christmas Jumper, and Santa will be making an appearance! 

This Christmas party will be a potluck, and we would love for you to bring something that reminds you of the holidays at home, be it from Ireland or beyond. We want to celebrate the holidays with as much cultural diversity as possible. 

So don your most horrific Christmas jumper and a pair of reindeer antlers, and come on down on the 19th of December for a night of merriment that you won't forget!

In honour of a World AIDS Day, we will be screening the 2012 documentary “How to survive a plague”! 

This film looks at the activism centred around the AIDS crisis in the 1980’s and tracks the organisation ACT UP from it beginning to its end.
