We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Nell McCafferty Annual Mooting Competition, which will take place on Saturday, 15th February 2025

This inaugural competition is named in honour of Nell McCafferty, a pioneering advocate for women’s rights and co-founder of the Irish Women’s Liberation Movement. It aims to celebrate her legacy while providing a platform for aspiring legal minds to refine their advocacy skills in a competitive setting. I have attached the Moot Question Pack for Participants to this email.

Our Moot Court Competition is a fantastic opportunity for students to improve their Advocacy skills, connect with others in a supportive setting, and empower Women in the legal field. Whether you’re a beginner or a Mooter, give it a try, we encourage all students to join in! It is an excellent way to improve your skills while having fun with a great element to add to your CV!

The event is aimed at all Undergraduate and Postgraduate students, from any Irish University. There is no registration fee, as our aim is to encourage female participation in Moot Court Competitions, we however require that there be at least one female per registering team.

If you are willing to participate but do not have a partner, please email nuimwomeninlaw@gmail and we will do our best to accommodate you.

We are excited to announce a prize of €100 for the First Place Winners, and €50 for the Second Place Winner. Registration will close on the 13th of February 2025 at 9am, with Written Submissions due at 10pm on the 13th of February.

About Women in Law Society

Welcome to Women in Law, the newest Law Society on campus !

We want to create a safe space for women to get involved in law events hosted on campus. We have found through our own experiences that girls tend to organize a lot of these events, but rarely take part in them. The legal profession is very much male dominated and we want to empower women in our university and raise awareness. We want to create a platform where women and our allies can get involved, make new friends and learn how to navigate the legal field together.
