It'll be taking place Thursday, the 19th of December. There will be two categories a general one any year can enter and a first-year-only category, there will be prizes for all categories and well as goodies given out during the competition.

Everyone no matter the skill level can join all you need is an interest in programming.

It'll be an introduction to pointers in C++. Pointers are very important to programming and knowing them is a very useful tool to have in your coding tool kit.
It'll take place at our weekly meeting (2024-12-12, 18:00, Thursday in CB8).

It means it's time for our annual HALLOWEEN PROGRAMMATHON! Join us in Eolas on the 24th at 6 pm to compete in the spookiest hackathon you've ever seen. Amazing prizes to be won! In the general category 1st and 2nd place will get a awesome prizes. Frist years don't worry you guys get your own category where 1st place will also receive a fabulous prize as well. All you need to do is pay a €2 entry fee on mulife or in person. As well as putting on your scariest costume as a prize will also be given to the best costume!

We are happy to announce our first talk of the academic year!
It'll be an introduction to Git and Github. These are really important and useful to know for industry and just in general.
It'll take place at our weekly meeting (18:00, Thursday in CB8)

Computer Science Soc and Maths Soc are collaborating to watch the movie "Flatland" on Wednesday the 10th at 6pm in JHL1!! ????

In collaboration with the Women in STEM Society and the Business Society we are running a Business & Technology Integration Workshop at 6pm on Thursday, 21st of March 2024, location, Callan Building CB8.

In Industry, there is a symbiotic relationship between Business and Technology. This workshop's purpose is to give students insights how the relationship between the two of them relates and give them interactive sessions and industry insights, we aim to equip our members with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in dynamic professional landscapes, driving innovation and driving positive change in today's interconnected world.

We are working with the Computer Science Department to organise Programmathon 23 – Maynooth’s ultimate programming competition next week! For this competition you work in teams of up to three people in order to solve five programming questions.

This competition is aimed at all year groups, including first years, and is a great opportunity to learn more about programming while winning amazing prizes (there will be many, many prizes given out on the day). If you're looking for help finding a team feel free to contact the society and we'll help if we can. The event is taking place on Tuesday May 2nd from 2-5 pm in the Eolas Lab. As the semester comes to a close we are excited to announce another programming competition!

This will be a teams competition which you can enter with up three people per team. There will be a separate beginners competition with questions designed for first years.

It will take place in Eolas Lab 3/4/5. There will be prizes.

Our first competition of the year, this will be a solo competition with a separate category for first years  (note CT students cannot compete in the first year category to ensure a fair chance for everybody) there will be a €50 one4all voucher for first prize, €20 for runner up and €20 for first year winner

Evervault are an encryption company who have invited us to a student night in their head office in search of their 2023 graduate and intern engineers.

It is a great opportunity for students to get a sense of what they may be doing in the future. Some of their past graduate and intern engineers will be there on the night to answer any questions on the program.

We will be doing some programming problems together. There will be problems suitable for all levels of programming experience. 

A movie night with MU Computer Science Society, we will be watching a movie TBD, with popcorn and soft drinks.

A hub to participate in Google's Hashcode competition,  team programming competition where you solve a tricky software engineering problem. Sign ups close Tuesday the 18th.

We will be having our first meeting back of the regular semester. There will be announcements and discussion of events that we plan to hold throughout the semester and we will also have pizza. We hope to see you all there :).

This week we are having a STEM Table Quiz in collaboration with Maths, Electronic Engineering, Psychology and Women in STEM. First prize will be a €50 one4all voucher. There will also be a raffle with great prizes. All the proceeds from this event will be going towards Ataxia Ireland.

This will be on in The Venue in the SU from 7 till 9 this Thursday, the 28th.
As such, We will not be meeting in CB8 this Thursday.

We have Maynooth's very own Professor Damien Woods on computing with molecules in a test tube. Professor Damien Woods is currently doing research on this topic and recently wrote a paper on it. It is bound to be an extremely interesting talk !

An introduction on how to use Git, an essential tool for industry in all areas of computer science. After going over the basics of git we will briefly talk about a way if using git called git flow.

A worldwide 24 hour programming competition, run from midnight Friday the 18th till midnight Saterday the 19th.

We are having our AGM. There will be pizza, an outline of our plans for the comming year and a few committe positions elected. The positions that will be elected are, Vice President, PRO, Events Officer and First Year Rep. It should be a fun night end we hope to see you there.
