As part of our Heartstopper Week, Creative Writing presents our Blog Writing event where members will have the opportunity to write a blog piece from the point of view of their favourite book character.

We are holding a viewing of episodes 5-8 of the Hearstopper series. All are welcome and I hope to see some of you there!

Study session where you can do some work in the company of others coming up to the Winter Exams. This meeting is not specifically for English students, all are welcome

We will be making holiday cards with the Arts, Crafts and Design Society. It will be a nice and relaxing activity to take minds off upcoming exams

This is the second Poetry and Journaling collaboration with the Mental Health Society. All are welcome, there will be paper and pens supplied. If you need any directions feel free to contact us through Instagram.

It's important to give back to the community and we want to bring smiles to Maynooth students... we will be handing out little gifts in front of John Hume.

We will be going for a peaceful walk along the canal where all participants are invited to take pictures to be added to our Prompts Instagram Story and that can be used to inspire works that can be submitted to creativewriting@mu.ie to be posted on our website.

Get together and get active... we will be playing games, getting outdoors, and getting creative! Hope to see you all there for a round of Hot Potato Speed Stories.

We will be collabing with the Mental Health Society and doing some writing and getting to know each other. 

The main purpose of this event is to decide what we want for the future of the Creative Writing society. But we will also engage in various activities such as writing prompts and collaborative story telling to see what things we find most enjoyable and/or helpful.

It's almost the end of another turbulent college year. It wasn't the one we had hoped for, I imagine, but it was a year none the less, characterised by zoom calls, Microsoft teams glitches and other technical failures, particularly moodle.

To celebrate the fact that we survived this year and have made it to a place where we can all be more hopeful, we decided to give you guys an end of year party this Wednesday at our usual slot at 7 pm. We will be playing Kahoot quizzes, chatting and having the craic.

Creative Writing Soc are holding a collaboration with Tea Soc and Games Soc to explore what we like to call 'Method Writing'. We will be bringing our characters to life by acting them out in person and placing them in a situation to see how they react. This is a really fun and productive way to get to know your characters, and will greatly improve people's writing.

So our event for this week, Thursday 19th October, is a workshop on dialogue. We are very lucky to have a member, Jade Gilroy, giving a presentation she has made on the topic. Also, if anyone has any tips or tricks on writing effective dialogue bring them along!!
Dialogue is a difficult one to get right, so we're hoping this week will help everyone to share their trials with it, and also let us see when you've totally smashed it!
