If you have never heard of it, Pink Training is a big yearly event taking place in the University of Galway from the 27th-29th of November (Fri-Sun). Its a LGBTQ+ Conference including various talks, activities, and evening events, and its a great opportunity to meet other Queer people from all over Ireland!

The event is open to anyone with a ticket! However we've been given the chance to bring along a certain number of members at a reduced price! So, if this sounds like something you would like to experience, fill out our application form for a chance at going!

New Monday Bi-weekly event

Queer Poetry Meet up!

Starting this Monday, we are excited to announce a new bi-weekly, commuter friendly event!

from 2-4pm in the Info Center, you can join us as we read and discuss various queer poetry and short stories!

This week to start us off, we will be going over a small collection of Oscar Wilde poems!

Then later, discussing how to create Haikus and Acrostic poems, and letting you all create your own poems!

This is a very beginner friendly event! And you wont have to share any poetry if you dont want to, but we do highly recommend you join us and try writing and reading poetry a shot!

SHAG Week Breakfast Morning and Panel

If you keep a close eye on the Maynooth_SU Instagram, you may of noticed that we at Pride Society are getting involved with SHAG week!
On the Tuesday, 3rd of November, we are hosting a Breakfast morning in the Info Center, from 10:30-12pm

During which, there will also be a panel on Sexual Health In Ireland, hosted by Rebecca Tallon De Hallivand, from 11-12pm! Same location.

We recommend you stop by whenever you can, enjoy some breakfast snacks, and listen in as we discuss and promote sexual health on campus!

Weekly Events

Gaymes

Gaymes night is back on again!

All are invited back to join us in the same room as before, John Hume Lecture Room 7 (upstairs), every Tuesday from 6:30-9:30.

There will be card games such as Uno and Cards Against Humanity, and of course our Society Switch will be available again for Mario Kart and Tomodachi Life.

Coffee Morning, Accessibilitea, and Red Cross Bobble Making Event!

Coffee morning is back, this time as a collaboration with Access Society, and Chill n' Skill! As they do a special Red Cross Bobble Making Fundraiser!

The Irish Red Cross has reached out to us asking if we'd like to participate in their Million Minutes Challenge, which is to raise funds for CPR Demonstrations.

This challenge event involves as many people as possible doing something challenging for one hour, hence during this collaboration, we highly recommend you all to come down and join Chill n' skill and Access Society as they make as many bobbles as they can within the hour limit!

Regular coffee morning and Chill n' Skill will be happening Wednesday 10-12pm, in the Info Center, Then stay around from 12-1pm to participate in the Million Minutes Bobble Making Fundraiser Collab.

Please donate at this link for the fundraiser!: https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/bobblemakingworkshop

Book Club (New Book!)

Book club isng a new book!

Before the reading week, we finished reading The Bruising of Qilwa, and after a group vote we decided the next book would be Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin.

This book was written in 1956, and is about a man dealing with his feelings and relationships with other men, including the bartended Giovanni.

Reading is all done during the event! So if you were hesitant to join us before, now's a great time to get involved as you wont need to have read anything up to this point!

Our weekly book club happens on Thursday 6:30pm-9:30 in John Hume Lecture Hall 5 (upstairs).

This is one of the best event to go to if you're looking for a more relaxed after classes environment, or if you love reading!

A free copy of Giovanni's Room is attached to this email!

If you need any help finding locations, have any questions, or are nervous to go to an event, drop us an email or message us on Instagram, Discord, or Whatsapp, and we'll help you out!

Thats all for this week, we look forward to seeing everyone soon!

Yours truly,
