Hi everyone! The MU Biology Society are hosting our annual Whittaker Awards Event on the 22nd April in TSI Lt1 6-8pm .
What is the Whittaker Awards ? The Whittaker Awards is an annual event aimed at showcasing scientific-communication and presentation skills of undergraduates from all years. Presentations are 10 minutes long on any biological topic of interest covering lecture material, research projects , dissertations etc. Cash Prizes and trophies will be awarded for best first year presentation and best overall presentation which will receive the "Whittaker Award".
The Biology Department have worked closely with us to bring back the prestige the Whittaker Awards deserves having being a feature of the society for over 50 years. Participation in such events offers students the opportunity to:

  • Develop confidence in scientific communication
  • Strengthen public speaking and presentation skills
  • Enhance CV (great for SPUR, internships , etc)
  • Showcase academic interest beyond the classroom

Whether you are considering research, industry, postgraduate study or simply want to challenge yourself, this year's Whittaker Awards will be an excellent opportunity to build transferable skills in a supportive but competitive environment.
