Wow, wow, wow… what a week for the Roscian Players !

On the 19th and 20th of November we hosted our first festival of the year, Debutantes. All actors involved were first time actors with the society. We had over 45 actors in this set of 9 plays and we could not be prouder of how it went. We also had some debut playwrights amongst us and a huge thank you to those who did step up as writers and directors.

Plays Performed in Showing Order:
You’ll Never Suffer Alone by Cyan Doyle (THAT’S ME)
Silent as the Grave by Meadhbh Ní Bhroin
Are you single ? by Heather Loftus
There’s a Blackhole in the Turf Shed by Seán Skelly
Love You to Death by Áine McGowan
Ultra Vires by Craig Doyle
No Surprises by Luca Devine
Matters Arising by Sheilagh Noonan
Dungeons and Debs by Finley Gallagher and Terence Arones

From University staff to friends driving 2 hours to see our shows we had a packed audience and this was our most successful Debs Festival as of recent; we are so thankful to everyone who attended over the two day show run. Another quick thank you to all who bought tickets to our raffle in aid of our society and congratulations to all those who won our prizes.

Quick thanks to all our sponsors who graciously helped make our programme and donate prizes to our raffle fund: Barberista, Masterchefs, Flippers Coffee, Zambrero Maynooth and Hook and Ladder. We are eternally grateful.

Thank you to Pub and Lit Soc Maynooth for taking the time to interview a few of our cast and directors for a little review (that is out soon !! keep an eye on the silverhand journal !!) and for attending the performance. Also a thanks to MU Dance for also accepting our invite and having a look at what drama is all about.

Massive thank you to AKW Media who was the most amazing videographer we could ask for and recorded our final night of Debs Fest. We will be coming back to pester you for more show recordings don’t you worry. (If you aren’t sick of us now you sure will be soon !)

To our actors,
You were amazing. I hope you are all so so SO proud of the performances you put on. You completely smashed it out of the park and we hope to see you all back again next semester for our next set of performances !

To my committee,
First production stress for a new committee is something I wouldn't wish on anyone BUT, you all worked through it and put on a blinder of a production. And finally a few specific thank yous for my committee:

To Craig Doyle and Neepa Khan our incredible PROs. Craig secured our raffle prizes and got all of our big promo done. Neepa designed almost every poster and ensured there was photos taken of our actors on stage too.

To Cal De Nicolas and Ethan Hayes our production officers. The lights and sound are some of the most important parts of a production and we couldn’t have succeeded the way we did without you two being on the ball.

To Katie Lawrence our props and costumes assistant. Thank you for designing and delegating all of our mad props to ensure the sets looked incredible

And to Wil Pearman-Howard our Festivals Co-Ordinator. The show could not have gone on without you. For a first festival you did the most fantastic job on everything. The chief organiser of everything Debs and a brilliant stage manager for all of our casts and crew. Thank you

To the rest of my committee; Tom Breathnach (Treasurer), Kim McCormack (Vice/Secretary), Luca Devine (Events), Rachel Garde (OCM) and Emily Conneely (1st year Rep), thank you for all of your hard work behind the scenes, during rehearsals, running front of house, being in promotional materials and everything in between, we worked tirelessly to pull it altogether and you all deserve another round of applause for putting up with me throughout this production.

We couldn’t have been happier to see how well this production went and we cannot wait to show you all more of what MU Drama has to offer

Signing off as Yours in Drama,
