After the hugely exciting announcement of the insanely talented Seán Mac Mathúna as Director of our 2026 Full-Scale Production of Spring Awakening, we are beyond thrilled to now reveal the rest of our incredible production team. Seán is already bringing his unique vision, creativity, and passion to the project, and if you haven’t yet read our previous newsletter introducing him, we highly recommend catching up to see why we’re so excited to have him at the helm.

Now, joining Seán, we are absolutely buzzing to announce the extraordinary creatives and leaders who will help bring this ground-breaking production to life.

Without further ado...

Introducing Our Choreographer: Joe Keane!

We are thrilled to officially announce that Joe Keane will be choreographing our 2026 Full-Scale Production of Spring Awakening!

Based in Kildare and Dublin, Joe is a talented dancer and choreographer with a deep passion for theatre. A graduate of Maynooth University, he is currently furthering his skills with Personal Trainer and Pilates Instructor qualifications at UCD, blending movement expertise with a love for storytelling through dance.

Joe’s training began at TheatreWorx Stage School, and he has since contributed to a range of Maynooth full-scale productions, including Into the Woods (ensemble), Cats (Mr Mistoffelees), and The Rocky Horror Show (Fangirl). His flair for choreography was also showcased in Inters, where he served as choreographer in both 2024 and 2025, earning 11 awards including Best Storytelling and Best Chorus Number.

This past year, Joe made his professional debut with Liberty Panto as a senior dancer, and he is returning this season as Assistant Choreographer and Dance Captain — experience that brings both technical skill and leadership to the MUMS stage.

Joe’s style is dynamic, expressive, and rooted in storytelling through movement. We are confident that under his choreography, Spring Awakening will feature breathtaking numbers that enhance the narrative, highlight character, and leave audiences captivated.

We can’t wait to collaborate with Joe and see the energy, creativity, and precision he brings to the stage. This production promises to be a truly memorable one, and with Joe leading the choreography, it’s set to move us in every sense of the word.

Introducing Our Musical Director & Orchestral Director: Enda Keating!

We are delighted to announce that Enda Keating will take on the role of Musical Director and Orchestral Director for our 2026 Full-Scale Production of Spring Awakening!

Enda has been an active and dedicated member of MUMS since 2022, initially joining the committee as First-Year Representative. Since then, he has contributed both onstage and musically — performing as Jack in Into the Woods (2023) and Gus in Cats (2024) — while steadily becoming a key figure in the society’s musical direction.

Over the past three full-scale productions, Enda has demonstrated his musical leadership in multiple roles: Music Captain for Into the Woods (2023), orchestra member for Cats (2024), and most recently as Orchestral Director and Assistant Musical Director for The Rocky Horror Show (2025). Outside of MUMS, he has honed his musicianship and collaborative skills as a member of the Maynooth University Chamber Choir for the past three years.

Enda’s interest in conducting and musical direction began during his school years at St Finian’s College, Mullingar, where he held a Music Scholarship with the Schola Cantorum. Since then, he has continued to build on that foundation through university studies and practical experience with MUMS productions.

A long-time fan of Spring Awakening, Enda is excited to work closely with the cast, orchestra, and production team to bring this powerful score and story to life. His experience, passion, and attention to detail make him perfectly suited to lead the musical direction of this production.

We can’t wait to see the creativity, energy, and care Enda will bring to the role, helping to make this Spring Awakening one to remember.

Introducing Our Co-Producer: Katie-Mai Mooney!

We are delighted to announce that Katie-Mai Mooney will be joining the production team as Co-Producer for our 2026 Full-Scale Production of Spring Awakening!

Katie-Mai is no stranger to the stage or to leadership in the world of musical theatre. Before joining MUMS, she was deeply involved with Carndonagh Musical Society (2010–2020), where she performed in numerous productions, including standout roles such as Amaryllis in The Music Man and Tallulah in Bugsy Malone. She went on to play Morticia in The Addams Family with CCS, won the Ulster Junk Kouture Sing Competition in 2020, and became a Scór Donegal Champion. In 2022, she continued her performance journey as Pilar in the Trinity Halls Musical. Alongside her performing, Katie-Mai has been sharing her talents as a singing and piano teacher since 2018, passing on her passion for music to others.

Since joining MUMS, Katie-Mai has been at the heart of the society in countless ways. She first appeared as Dance Captain in the 2022 Minis production of The Rocky Horror Show, before performing as Chutney in Legally Blonde (Inters 2023). She quickly established herself as a skilled Musical Director, leading 9 to 5 and Six (Minis 2023), & Juliet (Minis 2024), and The Beautiful Game (Inters 2025), the latter of which earned her the award for Best Musical Director. Her onstage performances have been just as memorable, with appearances as Maxine Dean in Beetlejuice (Inters 2024) and as Etcetera and Music Captain in Cats (Full-Scale 2024). Most recently, she combined her performance and leadership skills as Co-Producer and ensemble member in The Rocky Horror Show (Full-Scale 2025).

Her dedication to MUMS extends beyond the stage and pit. Katie-Mai has been a cornerstone of the committee, serving as Events Officer in 2023/24, before stepping into her current role as Chairperson for 2024/25 and 2025/26. Her tireless work, creativity, and ability to bring people together have been vital to the continued growth and vibrancy of the society.

Katie-Mai’s blend of performance experience, musical expertise, and strong leadership makes her the perfect fit for Co-Producer. Her insight and commitment ensure that Spring Awakening will not only be a production of the highest standard but also one that fosters collaboration, growth, and unforgettable memories for everyone involved.

We are so excited to see the vision that Katie-Mai and Caoimhe will bring to the role of Co-Producers. With their guidance, this production is in the best possible hands.

With Seán’s artistic vision guiding the production, Joe’s expressive choreography, Enda’s musical expertise, and the steady, creative leadership of Caoimhe and Katie-Mai, this is truly a dream team for Spring Awakening. Each member brings their own unique artistry, experience, and passion, and together they form a powerhouse of talent that we are certain will make this production unforgettable.

We cannot wait to see this team’s work come alive on stage — and to share this journey with all of you. Stay tuned for more updates as Spring Awakening 2026 begins to take shape. This is a production you will not want to miss.
