MUAC ATHLETE KEVIN MCGRATH CLAIMS VICTORY AT THE 2025 NATIONAL SENIOR INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Last weekend, it was all a go in the National Indoor Arena in Dublin, with the the National Senior Indoor Championships taking place!

Competing in a sold-out stadium, 5 MUAC athletes were among the action.

Day 1 saw Men’s Captain Benjamin Hauer and sprinter extraordinaire Destiny Nosa competing in the 200m sprint, clocking blisteringly fast times of 22.83s and 25.80 respectively.

Ben also competed later on that evening in the men’s 4x200m relay, with his team securing national bronze in a time of 1:31.13!! A great achievement.

Day 1 also saw our well decorated throws athlete Robert Higgins competing in the 56lbs Weight for Distance event. Robert achieved a remarkable 4th place with a throw of 6.71m, 5cm off the medals in a tough competition.

The action didn’t stop there, Day 2 was filled with thrilling finals in the men’s 800m and the men’s 60m, both elite fields with two MUAC athletes among them.

After smashing his PB in the 60m semi-finals (6.82s), MUAC President Craig Duffy finished in 7th position in the highly competitive men’s 60m sprint final. Competing against Irelands fastest ever man Israel Olatunde and the infamous rocket Bori Akinola, getting into the final was a daunting task, but Craig did us all proud with his fantastic performance and achievement.

Keeping up the great news, our Vice President Kevin McGrath claimed victory in the 800m, achieved in a ferociously fast time of 1.51.11. After qualifying the day before, Kevin played his cards right in a speedy and tactical race, besting his competitors and claiming the top spot on the podium, a great comeback from the Meath man.

These fantastic results display the great talent we have here at MUAC!! It’s inspiring to see our athletes doing so well, and we all want to give you a huge congratulations, hard work plays off.

The IUAA outdoor intervarsities are soon, we hope this great display of results inspires you to come to training, see you all soon ;)
