"On Thursday, two of our committee members, Emma and Hannah, addressed a third year English class to promote the Silver Hand journal and try and spread the word about what we do! Thanks to Dr. O' Hanlon of the English department for allowing us to address his lecture class and thank you to the students present for their warm reception! "
Giveaway Competition
"We had a giveaway competition last week starting Tuesday and ending on Friday. This competition was on instagram and required our members to like the post, share it and tag 2 friends in the comments to be in with a chance to win 2 free tickets for mbdc this evening. A winner was announced on friday."
Lessons in Clonfert Equestrian Centre
"Hey Guys,This is a notice to the people who signed up for our lessons. Our first lesson will be on the 22nd of November. The next 3 lessons after that will be on the 29th of November, the 6th of December and the 13th of December.6pm - Intermediate7pm - Advanced*Please note*- You will need to bring €120(CASH) to the first lesson next week - this money will go towards 4 lessons. If you miss or cancel a lesson, your money will not be brought forward.- Please do not forget to bring your gear if you have it. - The taxi will leave at 5:30 from the bus bay opposite Phoenix for the intermediates.- It will then pick us up from Clonfert when our lesson is finished at 6 and drop us back to the same place.- The taxi will leave at 6:30 from the bus bay opposite Phoenix for the advanced.- It will then pick us up from Clonfert when our lesson is finished at 7 and drop us back to the same place.- Please do not be late as it'll take time to get ready when you get there.- There is no additional charge for the transport.Looking forward to it!"
Street Outreach Training
"Hey everyone, On the 24th of October we held our annual Street Outreach and Working with Vulnerable Adults Training. The training is delivered by Niamh Brennan, our college co-ordinator with SVP. All our volunteers who took part in the training are now qualified to take part in our Street Outreach Volunteer programme, in which we travel to Dublin and offer tea, coffee, sandwiches, clothes and conversation to people sleeping out in the city. The Street Outreach programme has seen a big increase in numbers since last year, and we're excited to start offering more volunteering opportunities to our members this year.Keep an eye on our page for upcoming events!"
Student Publication Association
"We are delighted to announce that our journal, Silver Hand, has been accepted as a Student Publication Association (SPA) member. Every member of our society now has access to professional workshops and resources that cover a range of exciting topics. SPA aims to provide help and guidance to student publications, showcasing work at a regional and national level. They also run events, an annual conference, and an awards night. Formed in Southampton in 2012 and registered as a charity in 2020, they now represent 175 student publications across the UK, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland. We are looking forward to getting involved and availing of all the events and training on offer. "
Collab with Classics Soc for Book Club
"For the month of November, our book club will be hosted in collaboration with members of the Classics society. Our book club members voted for our book of the month, Circe by Madeline Miller based on suggestions from the Classics society! Looking forward to our two book club sessions, starting on Tuesday the 14th of November followed by Tuesday the 28th of November in Rye Events Space from 4 to 5 pm."

Whether you're a coffee, tea, or biscuit enthusiast it's a nice chill time for everyone.
