The members of St. Catherine’s Society were in attendance on Saturday evening for the double header in Croke Park. The Dublin hurlers and Tipperary began proceedings at 5pm and were followed by the Dublin footballers up against Clare.

The Hurling was fantastic from start to finish. Both Dublin and Tipperary fought out a fiercely competitive match. Some of the scoring was top class with Donal Burke from Dublin contributing to 15 points of his sides tally. Tipperary led the Dubs by a singular point at half time. 2 goals in the second half meant that Tipperary came out on top.

The football made for compelling viewing as the Dubs and Clare battled it out. A goal for Clare just before half-time left them 3 points up at the break. As the second half went on Clare led by six points. It was a handsome lead, but Dublin came back with 7 unanswered points of their own. Clare will be disappointed with some of the officiating, but it made for enthralling entertainment.

It was a fantastic trip to Croke Park arranged by St. Catherine’s Society and one that will live long in the memory.
