 Maynooth Come Dancing collaborates with other clubs and societies of Maynooth University. This event provides members of the dance society with the opportunity to choreograph a routine with one other person from another club/society, many of which do not dance, and will perform it on the aula maxima stage. This event is based off of the tv show “strictly” and this year is the first year that this event is going ahead since before covid. All proceeds raised from the event will be donated to GAZA hunger crisis.

We are so excited to announce that we have an afro workshop with the amazing Favour next week! This workshop is free and will be held from 6-8pm next tuesday in the small sports hall. Don't miss out!!

We are so excited to announce another collab this year !! Dance Soc X Indian Soc will be hosting a Bollywood dance class on Tuesday from 1-2. Class cost will only be €2, we can’t wait to see you all there ??

Come play just dance with us on Thursday the 15th of February from 6-9pm! The dance society are hosting a fun mixer to start off the second semester! so join us to meet people and have some snacks while playing just dance ?? 

We will be hosting a movie night to gather everyone for a cosy night to watch Step Up 1 before we break for the Christmas ? We will gather at 6:30, and the movie starts at 7, don’t be late ? Our movie night is a FREE event and there will be pizza and snacks ??so come down to CB1 next Thursday the 21st for a fun evening ?

We will be leaving the SU Venue at 4.30pm on wednesday to get the train to castle knock. We will then be walking to the ice skating rink in blanchardstown which is about 15 minutes to get there with plenty of time to get ready for our slot at 6.10pm. We will be on the ice for 50 minutes. The price was 16 euro for students but dance soc is subsidizing 5 euro for this so it will only cost 11 euro. Depending on how much interest we get, we might go for food afterwards however, if not we will be getting the 7.30pm train home.

'Maynooth's Best Dance Crew' is an annual event hosted by the dance society. It is a competition in which a small group of people from a number of clubs and societies perform a dance routine choreographed by members of the dance society and compete against each other. There will be a small prize for the winners and a raffle will also take place on the night.

Our dance societies agm will take place at 7:00 in CB1. We will run through and introduce our committee members for 2022/2023. We will also discuss our Intervarsities competition and give as brief as to when our auditions will be held for these teams. We also will elect our first year representative at this meeting as we welcome all of our new members. 

Meeting at 12.30 outside the SU and  leaving maynooth SU at 13.00pm to be in UCD Astra Hall for half 2. Event should be over at 5 and will be returning to the collection point outside the SU. 

Our most popular event is BACK! Come see Maynooth's clubs and societies battle it out to be Maynooth's Best Dance Crew! There will also be some dance society performances on the night as well as a raffle where you could win some amazing prizes. See you there!

FIRST COME FIRST SERVED- We have 45 Tickets available

TICKET COST- €25 per person for ticket and return bus.

Tomorrow morning we will have the lovely @mignon_vdl taking us for a Yoga Morning Flow class ???? ???? We are super excited to have her teaching this class just before we kick start auditions! It’s also a great way to start your day and bring yourself back to the moment ? so be sure to set those alarms and roll out of bed for some yoga tomorrow at 8 ?

The AGM will be a chance to get to meet the committee and hear all about future plans for the year ahead. You will get to ask any questions you may have and also get an idea of what Dance Soc is all about. So feel free to set yourself up with some treats, tea or drinks and have a few giggles with all the Dance Soc Members ?

We will also be electing our First Year Rep for the committee. This role entails being an enthusiastic person who is eager to try get as many people involved in the society as possible and this person will be helping other committee members along the way. So if you think this is a role that would suit you, why not go for it? If you would like to try out, you can message us in advance or you can also come forward at the meeting ??? It can be a little daunting running for the position but many people find it easier on Zoom!

We can assure you, everyone feels the same speaking and at the end of the day, it’s all just for fun! We hope to see you all there!

EVENT ALERT!

 This Thursday the 20th of February 6-7PM MU Dance & MU Yoga Society are joining forces to present to you... CHARITY WEEK ZUMBA!  This Zumba class will be taught by Niamh Kilcawley and will take place in Riverwalk Classroom on campus. We will be meeting with people at 5:45/5:40 at the SU to walk over if anyone is confused on how to get there! €2 per person with all donations welcomed! All proceeds will be kindly donated to Ataxia Foundation Ireland, our wonderful charity of the year!

Presenting...our annual Ice Skating trip! Taking place on Wednesday the 18th of December, we have organized a bus to and from Blanchardstown Ice Rink, and it will be leaving at 5PM SHARP from the SU on the Wednesday evening!

This trip is 15 euro per person,
this 15 euro includes your return bus to and from Maynooth, and your Ice Skating pass!

Please bring with you:
Money for food beforehand in wetherspoon (if you plan on getting some!)

Warm clothes
Optional christmas jumper!

Please note: For insurance reasons, all members planning on coming Ice Skating with us, must be a member of Dance Society on MU Life! (otherwise you cannot attend!) Tickets can be purchased online through our eventbrite link (in bio) otherwise you can arrange to meet up with one of our committee members if you wish to pay by cash (BEFORE Tuesday evening) we will NOT be accepting any 15 euros on Wednesday.

Back my popular demand, one of the most popular events of the year, Maynooths Best Dance Crew! 

Members of dance society collaborate with other societies to come up with a show stopping routine to see what society has the best dancers ?? 

It is on in the Glenroyal Hotel and will have loads of raffle prizes and other surprises in store? 

All money raised goes to our charity partner of the year Ataxia Ireland so please come, have fun and donate what you can??

We are holding a Dance class in the SU Venue in collaboration with Mental Health Society and Young Mentality Movement. 

This class will be taught by Leah, and in the dark! The aim of this class is to create a fun, relaxed, and non pressured environment amongst people, as we understand that dance class can be a little overwhelming at times. This class is open to all, and welcomes all levels of dance!

We cannot wait and we hope you are excited as we are!

DCU have invited us to partake in the Experiment which is a showcase where dance societies all come and perform a routine in the Helix.

It is not a competition but an opportunity for people to perform, meet new friends and have a good time! 

We are departing from the SU at 2pm on Monday and arriving at 3pm approx. at DCU where we will have our rehearsal on the stage.

The show starts at 8pm and afterwards we go out in Dublin to the Academy nightclub.

We will leave Dublin around 2am and arrive in Maynooth at 3am approx.
