Debate will be chaired by a member of the Maynooth University Politics Department

Join us for our beginning of year EGM on Tuesday November 16th at 7pm in JHL3 where we will elect some new committee members, and have a chat about our plans for the upcoming academic year!

We will be joined by a very special guest speaker afterwards to discuss leadership and politics in Ireland and their experience. More details in relation to guest speaker will be emailed closer to the time. 

Please book attendance via mulife as attendance is strictly limited to no more than 50 people. 

All Covid regulations will be observed on the night. Hand sanitiser and masks will be provided at entry points and social distancing will be maintained. Masks will also be worn at all times.

We will be joined by Deputy Éamon Ó Cuiv, local Councillor Rob Power, and Senator Fiona O'Loughlin all of whom have significant experience from their representations of rural Ireland. 

Here are just some of the topics we wish to discuss but please do attend, and bring up your own questions and ideas!

- The impact of Covid on rural Ireland (loneliness, isolation etc.)

- Lack of supports for those living in rural Ireland

- Agriculture (and the challenges it faces)

- Rural connectivity (poor roads, poor wifi, no infrastructure = no investment)

We are having our trip to Leinster House this coming Wednesday, the 4th of December. The tour is booked for 3.30pm, therefore we will be leaving at 1pm approximately.  We will be getting the full Dáil tour and will meet with North Kildare TD, Frank O'Rourke. We may also get a tour of the Dáil bar...... I highly encourage you to attend, places are limited to 10 people and come on a first-come-first-served basis. Ogra National Youth Conference

The Ogra National Youth Conference is the main event on the society calendar. Each year it is held in a different location around Ireland and this year it will be held in the Hudson Bay Hotel, Athlone. It is important that each society across Ireland send a delegation to the event in order to engage actively in and with political leaders and debates concerning the organisations future. The trip will be short. And upon arrival in Athlone there are shuttle buses which will take us to the Hotel. The event spans three days from the 9th - 11th of which members will if desired stay overnight on the 9th and 10th of march. Following this we will return to maynooth on Sunday the 11th of March. The members attending as delegates are as follows; Conor david Forest - Chairperson Caolan Leneghan - Vice Chairperson Meave Charlton - Treasurer Eoghan Lowe - Secertary Aaron Nugent - Pro Lucy Nally - First Year Rep
