¡Hola a todos! We’re going to be having a movie night this Thursday, the 27th of April from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, in TSI241.
Same place as last time! (Maybe a pint in the town after aswell who knows ? see who’s up for it on the evening ?)
?? As the semester is coming to a close, you know how we like to treat you all ;) so we’ll be providing pizzas, snacks and drinks for the movie night. No doubt you all deserve it from the amount of college work piling up ?
The movie we’ll be watching is called También la Lluvia ?? got the DVD so no delays ? English Subtitles, Spanish Audio x

Tapas Tasting Event 2023:
We're back with our most enjoyable event as we love to treat you guys!
Book in for this event, and on Thursday March 23rd from 5:00pm to 6:30pm we're going to meet at Picaderos Restaurant in Maynooth & enjoy ourselves to some tapas tasting.
How it works is that we (the spanish soc) buy a number of spanish & latin american dishes for the table and we all try some. Things like paella, patatas bravas, quesadillas & more.
This is free for our members but if you are buying any drinks you would just get them yourselves :)

Cultural Pub Quiz 2023

The Spanish Society's very first pub quiz!
On Tuesday the 7th of March at 5pm...commuter friendly time so we better see you all there ;)
This will be a several rounds quiz on Spanish & Latin American culture across many different topics like music, festivals, traditions, geography and music + others.
If you think you have what it takes to compete for the Grand Prize, bring yourself & your mates to "The Venue" (which is the big hall with the stage in the MSU) on Tuesday at 5! Or even if you think you don't know much on the subject come for the craic anyway, you never know you might get lucky!
It's free for everyone to come and we will be providing snacks & non-alcoholic drinks, and pints are available to get from the SU bar to bring into the event <3
P.S if anyone is coming alone, that's no problem as we will be making a team out of those who are flying solo.
Doors open at 5pm and we'll be starting the quiz around 5:15pm.

We are hosting a movie night this Thursday, the 1st of December at 6pm on campus in the TSI Building, Ground Floor, Room 28. (TSI028)
The movie we will be watching is 'Roma' in Spanish audio and with English Subtitles and we will be providing free food for you all as a way to say thank you for your engagement over the semester and also to have a nice chill time with everyone as things get hectic coming up to christmas.
The movie is 2 hours long, so we will finish up around 8pm but of course if you need to leave earlier no bother.

You might remember hearing about this film when it came out in 2018, it won more than 20 awards and the director won an oscar for it.

Calling on all you Epicureans, to come and enjoy some Spanish & Latin American cuisine with us!
On Thursday the 27th of October at 6:30pm, we will be meeting at 'Picaderos' restaurant in Maynooth which is a great place to try authentic Spanish & Latin American cuisine, as there are sooo many dishes & tapas on their menu to choose from, which can be drooled over, here:

The max amount of Spanish Society members that can come is 11, which is so few I know, but this is the limit set by the restaurant for the reservation on Thursday.
Por esta razón, you must book through this event to reserve your spot as the booking will close once the 11 spaces are taken, but do not worry if you can't come this time as we will be doing this event again!
& As a token of our everlasting love for you all ;) the Spanish Society will be providing different plates of tapas for the table to share :) Just cover your drinks and any extras that you would like from the menu.

We are very excited to invite you to our very first latin dance class with our talented local dance instructor Sandra Moran. This is a fun opportunity to close the books and have some fun on campus, all while learning a few latin dance moves to take back to the Roost with you ;)
Sandra will be introducing us to a number of latin dance styles within the one hour class and who knows? If its something our members really get into maybe this could be a regular thing for semesters to come!
As Sandra is a professional dance instructor with many years of experience, the discounted price that we have secured for our on-campus class is 7.50EUR per person. This price is for anyone at Maynooth who would like to participate, however for our Spanish Society members we've gone one step further and can offer this class at the price of 5.00EUR per person. Pay in cash at the door on the day.

Showing at 2pm and the movie will finish by 4pm, mid arrivals are fine if you only want to attend part of it! We will be hosting this in the APT - Apartment Teaching Hall, at the River Apartments. Next Tuesday we will be having our AGM. It will take place in Classhall F at 6pm. We would love to see as many people there as possible.
