Hi MUMS,

A warm welcome to both new and returning members of MUMS! We hope you all had a fabulous summer and are looking forward to another exciting year. Thank you to everyone who came to our stall in the TSI this week, it was lovely to meet you all! The winner of our Orientation Week raffle is Ian Cross. We would ask you to get in contact with us regarding collecting your prize.

The committee has been hard at work throughout the summer planning for upcoming events and productions. Next week is full to the brim with events to get everyone settled in!

Firstly, we will begin with ‘Tea and Chats” on Monday 23rd September from 1pm-3pm in Rye Events Space. This is a great opportunity to talk to committee members and meet other members of the society, so be sure to call in for a cuppa!

Secondly, we will be hosting an Open Mic in O’Neill’s Bar on Main Street starting at 7pm on Tuesday 24th September. The theme for this year’s first open mic is ‘My Favourite Musical’. Make sure you don’t miss out on a night of gorgeous performances from the society’s favourite musicals!

Thirdly, we have our first accredited Wednesday Workshop of the year (more information on workshops being accredited with the Music Department will be available in the coming weeks)! Our very own Alison Kiernan Whelan and Taylor Dench will be hosting this ‘Welcome Workshop’ on the 25th of September from 6pm-7:15pm in Riverstown Hall. Be ready to act, sing, dance and meet new people!

Also on Wednesday we are having a ‘Musical Theatre: Quiz Night’ in O’Neill’s Bar at 7:30pm. Be sure to call in and show off your musical theatre knowledge!

Finally, our last events of the week are our Commuter Workshops on Thursday 27th September - ‘Dance’ with Oisin Reynolds from 12-1pm and ‘Minis Audition Prep’ with Becky Casley from 1-2pm. Both of these workshops will take place in the Small Sports Hall in the Phoenix Building. What an incredible way to get involved if you are a commuting student, or even if you’re not!

All updates on these events and more will be posted on our Instagram page - mumusicalsoc

Now that I have mentioned all of next week’s events, some committee news. We currently have three open roles in our committee - First Year Rep, Treasurer and Inters Rep/Vice Chairperson/Vice Treasurer. All three of these positions will be elected at our AGM on Wednesday 2nd October. Being on committee is a great way to give back to the society so I would encourage you all to put yourself forward - we can’t wait to meet our three new members very soon. More information about what these roles entail and details about our AGM will be shared next week.

Last but not least, our 2025 full scale production: ‘The Rocky Horror Show’! We are so so excited about getting started and we hope you are too! But, before we do, our incredibly talented director Shane Dornan needs your help - if you are interested in being on the Production Team of what is to be a phenomenal show, the applications are now open! Musical Director, Choreographer, Stage Manager and Front of House Manager are all up for grabs! If you wish to apply, please specify the position and provide relevant experience in your application. Send your application to rockyhorrormaynooth@gmail.com. Applications close on Friday 27th September. Best of luck!

Keep an eye out on our socials and emails in the coming days for details regarding our annual London trip!

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or queries. Enjoy your weekend and we hope to see you all next week :)
